The sample upon which the EQ-360 was normed consisted of 1,900 raters and 745 ratees. Of the 745 ratees, 385 were male and 353 were female (7 did not report gender), with a mean age of 40.44 years (SD=11.50)
It is an international sample, with participants from Australia, Canada, Mexico, Netherlands, South Africa, Sweden, The U.K. and the U.S.A. This sample is representative of several business sectors including architecture, finance, healthcare, education, Canadian Government and U.S. Postal Service. The participant breakdown by gender and age for each rater group is provided in the technical brochure for this study.
Collecting normative data is an important part of test development. Norms establish a baseline against which all subsequent results are compared, and they enable the test developer to capture the characteristics of an 'average' respondent. Norms indicate the average performance on a test and the frequency of deviation above and below the average. The larger and more representative the normative database, the more accurate and indicative the results.
Multirater Feedback Report
This report compares results from all the raters to the results of the self-report. A narrative section discusses up to three subscales with the greatest difference between the raters and the self-report. This section describes implications of performance in the workplace, and provides some simple strategies for improvement.
Each Multirater Feedback Report includes a coach's version that summarizes all scale and subscale scores, a graphed profile comparing the individual's EQ-i scores with the scores of all EQ-360 ratings and includes item response frequencies. The client's version of the report presents a graphical representation of the scores for all the raters, comparing them to the results of the self-report, but does not provide numeric scores.
With the Multirater Feedback Report, you also select an EQ-i Development, Resource, or Business Report, which forms the basis of scoring and feedback. Upon scoring, the administrator receives the following reports:

Dr. Reuven Bar-On, Ph.D.
Dr. Reuven Bar-On is a clinical psychologist who currently works as a senior consultant for a variety of Israeli institutions and organizations, which include the Ministry of Education, the Foreign Ministry, and the Israeli Defense Forces. He received his Ph.D. from Rhodes University in South Africa in 1988. His research has crossed borders into eleven countries in an effort to develop a cross-cultural approach to describing and assessing emotional intelligence.
Rich Handley, DBA
Dr. Rich Handley holds a doctorate in business administration, a master of social work, a master of education, and a bachelor of science degree. He is a board-certified diplomate in clinical social work, and holds Texas licensure as a licensed social worker. In addition, he is a licensed marriage and family therapist and a certified corporate wellness director.
A pioneer in bringing Emotional Intelligence to the workplace, Dr. Handley specializes in corporate applications of Emotional Intelligence. He has conducted over 5,000 EQ-i administrations to date, and is a certified trainer in EQ-i with MHS.
