About the Hosts

It is as a result of a commitment to student success that a partnership has grown between Georgetown University, one of the first universities to begin using Emotional Intelligence with students, and MHS, a world leader in Emotional Intelligence assessment. Together, Georgetown and MHS will be hosting the Higher Education Symposium on Emotional Intelligence on Georgetown's campus this fall.

Georgetown
Georgetown University is one of the top universities in the United States. Georgetown's Catholic and Jesuit tradition is one of caring for the whole person. The growth and development of students is central to its mission of cura personalis. Georgetown has been using Emotional Intelligence as a tool for identifying some of the unique social and emotional challenges faced by students and is addressing Emotional Intelligence in a variety of ways in a number of different academic and student affairs departments.

MHS
MHS has been a leader in the research and development of Emotional Intelligence assessments for over a decade. Ever since the construct of Emotional Intelligence was first linked to student performance, we have been dedicated to working with colleges to make our tests accessible and relevant to them. MHS has developed relationships with campuses across the United States and Canada with the goal of helping them to improve the performance of their students. We have also worked closely with the Resource Center for the First Year Experience, sponsoring  events that the Resource Center hosts, such as the First Year Experience and Students in Transition conference series.
