Dean TaylorUnited Kingdomwebsite

Dean Taylor is a Chartered Psychologist with over 16 years’ experience applying psychology in industry and the public sector. His key areas of expertise are Emotional Intelligence, Leadership assessment and development, and Team Development. He has an MSc in Applied Psychology from Cranfield University and is currently studying for a Masters in Applied Positive Psychology.

Dean founded IDEA Psychology (whose mission is “to release the potential within people and teams for greater creativity, improved performance, and increased happiness”) in 2007, where his work focuses on individual and team development work, using Emotional Intelligence as one of core models influencing leadership and personal effectiveness. He is an accredited trainer in the BarOn EQi and EQ360.

Dean's expertise in this area comes not just from his practical experience of applying Emotional Intelligence in organisations over the last ten years, but also from his academic understanding of the field of positive psychology, EI's place within that field, and the positive psychological interventions that facilitate effective change in EI.

He shares his passion for positive psychology – the science of optimum performance and well being, not “the tyranny of positive thinking” - in his training and consultancy work, and his EQi courses are about much more than 'how to interpret a test'; they are a step on the journey  towards helping others realise their potential.

Before founding IDEA Psychology, Dean's worked in EU-funded research into management selection in Eastern Europe, after which he spent 3 years in the UK Civil Service designing and implementing assessment processes for recruitment. He then spent 10 years in a business psychology consultancy, where his work varied across training, assessment and leadership development in public and private sector organisations up to board level.
